Series
Line:
LAA +145
NYY -175
There
are many questions surrounding this upcoming ALCS between the New York Yankees,
and the Los Angeles Angels. Will the Yankees use a three-man rotation, which
includes Cy-Young candidate C.C. Sabathia, A.J Burnett and Andy Pettite? Will
they once again toss Joba into the fourth spot? Will Chad Gaudin, yes; Chad
Gaudin get the nod over Joba has the fourth starter in the ALCS? Will the Halos
keep it going, rallying behind Nick Adenhart? Will Tori Hunter keep his recent
surge up?
The
Yankees seem to be the public's favorite to win the World Series. Currently
sitting at (-175) to win the series, I expect that to work it's way as we
approach Friday. For me, and all the Halo backers out there, wait until Friday to take the series
price. As I see it marching up to at least +175 for us, (currently at
+145).
There
are no doubts that the Yankees are a powerhouse, arguably the best lineup
throughout baseball. If the pitching staff shows up, they should have no
problem advancing, and winning it all, but don't crown the champs, just yet.
The Angels just walked right over the Boston Redsox, who to many people were on
there way to another title. With a
rotation of Lackey, Saunders, Weaver and Kazmir the Halos should be able to
limit the Yankees offense. Only thing scaring me is the bullpen. The Angels
have had some bullpen trouble, and if they can keep the ‘pen in check, it will
do wonders for them. With that
being said, my pick would be the Angels for the series, currently sitting at
(+145), I would wait to see if it raises a little more the next few days.
Now,
a breakdown of the first game of the series! Game 1 (FOX 7:57 P.M - EST) is a
key, key game for the Angels, on the road, in the spotlight, against C.C.
Sabathia. The Angels toss out 30 year old John Lackey, who has picked up his
game the past few weeks. The
Yankees are pretty solid hitting right handed pitchers, so Lackey will need to
need to constantly keep them on there toes with off-speed pitches. The Angles
had no problems wearing down Lester, and Beckett ad I expect them to do the
same in this series. If they can keep the game close, I expect them to get big
late inning hits, (see Boston series).
With
that being said, I'd fade the public and hop on the Angels bandwagon. (Series,
and game 1 as well) Wait until Thursday to make the series play, the line will
continue to go up I believe, if not, settling for +145 is a decent price.
This
is my first blog, feel free to always comment, good or bad remarks are welcome.
For those Yankee backers, good luck in each game, and for the series. It all
starts Friday, October 16 at 7:57 EST, on FOX!
